Candidate Testimonial – Follow the Recruitment Journey of a Data Science Intern

1. Can you introduce of yourself and what inspired you to explore a career in data science?
My name is Jasmine Phan, and I have always had a deep love for mathematics. This passion led me to explore data science, a field where I could apply analytical thinking to solve real-world problems. I pursued a Master’s degree in Data Science, where I developed my skills in various aspects, including machine learning, data analysis, and data visualisations.
2. How did you hear about Australiance Talent, and what was your recruitment experience like?
During my job search, I was actively applying for roles on platforms like LinkedIn, Seek, and Indeed. However, I wanted to expand my search and decided to explore more opportunities on Google. That’s when I came across the Data Engineer Internship opening on the Australiance website. I submitted my application and hoped it would be the right fit for me.
3. Was there anything about the recruitment process that you found particularly helpful or unique?
One of the standout aspects of the recruitment process at Australiance was the personal touch. Unlike many graduate programs that require cognitive tests before progressing further, I received an email from Celine inviting me to book an appointment with her soon after submitting my resume. This allowed for direct communication early in the process. The initial conversation helped me set clear expectations regarding the selection stages which makes the experience smooth and transparent.
4. How did Australiance help you prepare for this opportunity with JurisTechne?
Australiance provided tremendous support in preparing me for my role at Juristechne. Celine took the time to understand my experience and aspirations, ensuring the role aligned with my skills and career goals. After our discussion, the company’s assessment was sent to me promptly, followed by the final interview shortly after. The entire process was fast and efficient, and Celine consistently kept me informed about the next steps, helping me feel confident and well-prepared for the interviews.
5. What's been the most exciting project you've worked on so far in your internship?
Since joining Juristechne, I have worked on an exciting project that involves processing documents in various formats, extracting their content, and structuring the data in a predefined format. This hands-on experience has allowed me to enhance my technical skills while contributing to meaningful projects.
6. Would you recommend Australiance Talent to other aspiring data scientists or tech professionals? Why?
As someone in the early stages of a data science career, I understand how challenging it can be to secure a role in the industry. Australiance helped me land an internship that aligns with my skills and aspirations. Their support made the job search feel a lot smoother and less stressful, and they were always there to guide me along the way. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking to kickstart their career in tech or data science!
